SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Everett Golson has been cleared to return to practice, Notre Dame announced Wednesday, paving the way for the sophomore quarterback to start Saturday's game against BYU.
Golson suffered a concussion in the fourth quarter of Notre Dame's 20-13 win over Stanford and was not cleared as of Tuesday. Coach Brian Kelly said yesterday Golson had passed all the necessary tests except for a cognitive exam on a computer, and has expected Golson to play vs. BYU since revealing his quarterback's concussion Sunday.
Golson threw for 141 yards and a touchdown against Stanford, although he fumbled three times. On the season, Golson has thrown for 968 yards with four touchdowns and three interceptions.
