Rod Carey and the Northern Illinois Huskies are about to find out what life is like without star Jordan Lynch.
NIU kicks off the 2014 season hosting Presbyterian College on Thursday, its first game without Heisman finalist Lynch and first-round pick Jimmie Ward.
Carey knows Lynch and Ward won't be walking through the doors at DeKalb anytime soon, so he's got his team prepared for what he believes will be a tough test against the FCS Blue Hose.
"I got a lot of respect for what they're (Presbyterian) doing," Carey said. "Coach (Harold) Nichols has a fine football team. To his words, he said that he probably has his best football team to date. And I believe it."
