Four-star athlete Michiah Quick committed to Oklahoma over Notre Dame on Wednesday, leaving Brian Kelly's 2014 recruiting class at 23, pending the commitment of five-star defensive back JuJu Smith.
Mike Denbrock aggressively pursued the Fresno, Calif. native, though most speculation in recent days pointed to Quick heading to Oklahoma.
Quick was rated by Rivals as the fourth-best athlete in the class of 2014, the 7th-best player in California and the 76th-best overall player nationally. He held offers from Alabama, Oregon, UCLA and USC, among other schools.
While he would've been an excellent addition to Notre Dame's recruiting class, he would've been a luxury for a program that focused on adding offensive linemen and front seven players in this cycle.
