Nile Sykes will indeed transfer from Notre Dame only a few weeks after setting foot on campus.
The former Montini and Oak Park-River Forest linebacker will transfer to Indiana, a move announced by the Hoosiers Friday morning. Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly released Sykes from his national letter of intent — a move he didn't make last year with defensive tackle Eddie Vanderdoes — meaning the freshman is eligible to play for Indiana this fall.

"After Coach Kelly and Notre Dame released Nile from his NLI, he reached out to us," Hoosiers coach Kevin Wilson said. "We recruited Nile hard and he was a guy we really wanted. We are happy to have him and welcome him into our program."
Rivals rated Sykes as a three-star prospect, the 18th-best recruit in Illinois and the 20th-best inside linebacker in 2014's recruiting class. Notre Dame coaches liked his versatility and projected his as either an inside or outside linebacker.
