As was the case with Michiah Quick, JuJu Smith would've been a luxury for Notre Dame -- but he's a luxury the Irish wound up missing out on.

Smith, a five-star athlete who can play defensive back or wide receiver, committed to USC Wednesday afternoon. Smith's recruitment came down to USC, Notre Dame, UCLA and Oregon.

"USC's just been my dream school since Day 1," Smith said on ESPNU after announcing his decision.

Notre Dame's 2014 recruiting class finished with 23 players: One five star recruit, 10 four star recruits and 12 three star recruits. For USC -- one of three teams Notre Dame will play in annual rivalry games -- Smith, as well as five-star athlete Adoree' Jackson, rocketed the Trojans' recruiting class of 2014 into Rivals' top 25 after beginning the day ranking in the 30s.
