Notre Dame will play Pittsburgh in primetime Saturday night at Heinz Field, with kickoff set for 8 p.m. (EST) on ABC. The announcement was made Sunday after ESPN and the ACC flexed its six-day window last week to decide the game's start time.

It'll be Notre Dame's fifth primetime game this year, and its third on ABC. Notre Dame previously played at Michigan and Purdue in ABC's nationally-televised primetime contest, and played night games on NBC against Arizona State and USC.

The decision to put Notre Dame-Pitt in primetime may have been influenced by the LSU-Alabama night game on CBS. Notre Dame's large fanbase will tune in and won't be siphoned by the biggest game of the night, perhaps something that couldn't have been said for Florida State (which kicks off at noon EST against Wake Forest) or Miami (which kicks off at 7 p.m. EST against Virginia).
