SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Notre Dame quarterback Tommy Rees was injured in the third quarter of Saturday's game and was taken to the locker room after being sacked by USC linebacker Will Dawson.
Rees, who completed 14 of 21 passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns, was hit hard on the sack and laid on the field for a few minutes before gingerly walking off.
After being looked at by trainers, Rees was taken to the locker room and later returned to the field wearing a hooded sweatshirt. Coach Brian Kelly said after the game Rees suffered a neck strain and was "really sore."
Kelly expects Notre Dame to know more about Rees' status in the next 24-48 hours.
