It's been just a few days since the last collegiate watch lists were released, and now Notre Dame is once again being represented in the Lombardi and Butkus Award lists.
Linebacker Jaylon Smith made the cut for both and is joined by offensive tackle Nick Martin on the Lombardi list and inside linebacker Jarrett Grace among the Butkus finalists.
Smith started all 13 games for the Fighting Irish, becoming the first freshman linebacker to start an entire season in nearly 20 years. He finished third on the squad with 67 tackles and second on the team with 6.5 tackles for loss.
Martin ultimately started all 52 games of his Notre Dame career, setting a school record by making his 51st start in the game against Stanford. He also made the Lombardi Award watch list in 2011 and 2012.
Before breaking his leg against Arizona State, Grace played in the first six games of the season. His 40 tackles tied for Notre Dame's lead at the time he suffered his injury.
