Former Kansas City Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli -- now an analyst for NBC's Football Night in America -- came away impressed by Brian Kelly and Notre Dame after visiting with them in Marion, Ind., at the beginning of the month.

Pioli not only thinks highly of Kelly, but also of his coaching staff. And after viewing Notre Dame's practices, he's impressed with those, too.

"They did it with an intensity and a purpose, but they also didn't work so crazy where fit was too hard," Pioli said on the Dan Patrick Show Monday.

Pioli also sees three first-round picks on Notre Dame's roster. Like almost every other draft projection, he has defensive end Stephon Tuitt and defensive tackle Louis Nix going in the first round, but he also thinks tackle Zack Martin will wind up being one of the best offensive linemen in the country by next year's draft.
