Former Notre Dame running back Cierre Wood was placed on waivers by the Houston Texans on Monday, according to the Houston Chronicle, for a violation of team rules.
Wood was suspended two games to begin his final season at Notre Dame for a violation of team rules.
For Wood, there might've been an opportunity with Houston given top running backs Arian Foster and Ben Tate were banged up in the Texans' loss to Kansas City on Sunday. Wood, who signed with Houston as an undrafted free agent, led the Texans in rushing yards during the preseason. Wood had three carries for nine yards in the regular season.
The Chronicle reported Wood, along with two other players, were placed on waivers due to a violating team rules at the Texans' hotel in Kansas City on Saturday. All three players were sent home Sunday morning before Houston's game.
