Power play gets quiet in second period

The Hawks had a chance to build on the 1-0 lead they got in the first period's final minute, but couldn't capitalize on their first two power plays of the game (including a high-stick against Raffi Torres). They allowed a shorthanded breakaway by Mikkel Boedker on the first man-advantage, but Brent Seabrook caught him from the side as Corey Crawford made the stop.

The Twitter-verse is exploding with opinions on the hit that caused Marian Hossa to be immobilized and carted off on a stretcher. Our own Eddie Olczyk believes a 10-game suspension, minimum, is in order. But no penalty was called on the play from the crew that officiated Game 2 between the New York Rangers and Ottawa Senators, which got out of hand.

Andrew Brunette was credited with a tip-in of Patrick Kane's shot on the game's lone goal.
