CSN Preps Basketball Power Rankings: No. 23 Benet Academy

Share

School: Benet Academy

2015-16 record: 31-4, 8-1 in the East Suburban Catholic Conference

Postseason results: Lost to Curie, 65-59, in the Class 4A state championship game

Players to watch: Seniors Jack Nolan and Liam Lyman are returning starters from last season. Nolan was a double-figure scorer, and Lyman is a versatile floor-spacer who can play multiple positions. Reserve Justin Enochs is also back, and he's another capable perimeter shooter.

Why they're in the Power Rankings: Benet didn't have Division-I star power last season but still managed to nearly win the Class 4A state championship because of a selfless team that played very well together. Head coach Gene Heidkamp is one of the area's best coaches, and he has plenty of shooters to make for another dangerous team.

Did you know? All four of Benet's losses last season came against teams ranked in the CSN Preps Power Rankings. The Redwings are a team that doesn't beat themselves, and they rarely lose to inferior competition.
