It's been a productive day for Lovie Smith and the University of Illinois football program as St. Rita senior OLB Marc Mondesir (6-foot-2, 210 pounds) camped at Illinois on Sunday, received an offer and committed to the Fighting Illini. Mondesir, who played defensive end in 2015 for the Mustangs and head coach Todd Kuska, joins Rockford Auburn's OT Verderian Lowe in pledging to the Illinois football Class of 2017 on Sunday.

"I love the great coaching staff and also the fact that Illinois is my home state," according to Mondesir. "Illinois has been a school that I have always wanted to be a part of. After discussing it over with my family today I knew Illinois was the right choice."

Mondesir also saw a huge boost to his recruiting stock added five scholarship offers over the past three days after impressive camp performances. Mondesir camped at the Northwestern Showcase camp on Friday, camped on Saturday at the Lake Forest College satellite camp in Willowbrook before his Illinois camp on campus on Sunday.

Mondesir is now the sixth overall verbal commitment and the fifth in-state commitment to the Illinois Class of 2017.
