Illinois football lands its first 2018 verbal commitment

Peoria three star ranked quarterback Coran Taylor (6-foot-3, 205 pounds) decided to end his recruiting process this morning and has given Illinois his verbal commitment.

Taylor, who announced his decision via his Twitter account becomes head coach Lovie Smith's first verbal commitment in the Fighting Illini's Class of 2018. 

Taylor, who was an All State quarterback in 2016 led the Peoria Lions to it's first ever IHSA state football championship. Taylor, a true dual threat quarterback amassed 3,213 total yards of total offense (1,671 rushing 1,542 passing) and 41 combined touchdowns (24 rushing 17 passing) in 2016.
