Many observers and recruiting experts will rave about Michigan verbal commit and Downers Grove South junior offensive tackle Erik Swenson (6-foot-5, 300 pounds) for his on the field abilities, size, frame and reach. My favorite part of Swenson's game? His honesty.
I asked Swenson at the Red Grange 7-on-7 what if his only option was playing for Michigan rival Ohio State in college?
"I guess I would have to quit football."
Swenson's game and potential at the next level is also all about honesty. Swenson has the size, makeup, maturity and tools to become a very strong recruit down the road for the Wolverines. Swenson has been able to progress his game from an oversized high school freshman at the varsity level who didn't feel comfortable with his size and power to his current day skill level. Swenson is also a veteran of the recruiting world, which sounds stranger and stranger as schools now target kids younger and younger these days.
Honestly, you really don't need to overhype Erik Swenson. His game, his approach and his overall body of work is, well, pretty honest.
