With the 2013 season just days away, here is a quick recruiting update on some of the top remaining uncommitted recruits from the Class of 2014.

LB Clifton Garrett, Plainfield South (6-foot-2, 222 pounds): Garrett, the state's top ranked prospect and the #55 ranked recruit in the nation according to the latest Rivals.com Top 100 Class of 2014 rankings, has already set some official visits and narrowed his list of favorites to Florida, LSU, Ole Miss, Tennessee and USC. Garrett so far has official visit dates set for Florida (September 28th), Tennessee (October 10th) and Ole Miss (October 18th) and is expected to make all five allowed official visits before making his final college choice in January. Garrett said previously that he would announce his college choice at the US Army All American Bowl on January 4th. Garrett has called LSU his team to beat at this stage of his recruiting process.
LB Nyles Morgan, Crete-Monee (6-foot-1, 222 pounds): Morgan has been a bit move close to the vest when it comes to his favorites. Morgan, who is also ranked as the #83 best player in the country according to the Rivals.com Top 100 Class of 2014 recruit rankings has remained open and is planning to announce a Top 5 schools list on September 1st. Morgan visited both Florida and Tennessee this summer and has mentioned a handful of schools has he would like to see out West as well. Morgan has also mentioned Notre Dame, Vanderbilt and Ole Miss as potential schools that could make his eventual Top 5 list.
DE Dewayne Hendrix, O'Fallon (6-foot-4, 264 pounds): Hendrix, ranked as the #103 recruit in the nation has scholarship offers from several major BCS schools from across the country and his interest seems to reflect his national recruiting stature as well. Hendrix made unofficial visits this summer to Tennessee, Florida and this past week to USC and has set an official visit to Florida for October 5th. Hendrix is also giving more attention this summer to Kansas State and Ohio State.
DB Parrker Westphal, Bolingbrook (6-foot-1, 186 pounds): Westphal has taken a slow approach to his recruiting this summer. Westphal, who has 20 scholarship offers so far this summer earlier named Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Arizona State, Michigan State, Illinois, Nebraska, Florida and Michigan and Ohio State as schools that caught his interest. Yet Westphal also recently said he was in no hurry to make a decision and hadn't set up any official visits just yet.
RB Chris James, Niles Notre Dame (5-foot-9, 212 pounds): James has narrowed his list of favorites this summer to Iowa, Michigan State, Pitt, Tennessee and Wisconsin while Illinois also remains in the picture along with a few others. James was hoping to make a decision be the start of his senior season but has backed off that time frame.
"I'm looking to take my time now and make some official visits. My grandmother wants me to wait and take a few visits before I make a decision."
