CSNChicago.com is your top destination on the road to the 2014 high school football season. CSN preps contributor “Edgy” Tim O’Halloran will take a look at 100 teams in 100 days, counting down to the opening night kickoff on August 29th.

School: Phillips

Head coach: Michael Larson

Assistant Coaches: Tim McAllister, Joe Winslow, Jowon Powell, Anthony Phillip, Karriem Muhummad, Iggy Brown, Michael Mancini

Biggest storyline in 2014: Are the Wildcats the top team in the Chicago Public League in 2014? With 17 returning starters back from a Class 4A state qualifier team season ago Phillips should make some serious noise this fall.

Name to watch: Phillips senior safety Jamal Brown (6-foot-0, 185 pounds) is verbally committed to Western Michigan. The Wildcats also have a handful of D1 caliber prospects on the roster in 2014.

Biggest Hole To Fill: The Wildcats will have talent and experience but how much depth in 2014?

EDGY's Early Take: The Wildcats will no question have a chance to make more noise this fall. A rough first three weeks (Stillman Valley/Carmel/Naperville North) will test Phillips yet if they can stay healthy don't be shocked to see them make a deep Class 4A playoff run this fall.
