CSNChicago.com is your top destination on the road to the 2014 high school football season. CSN preps contributor “Edgy” Tim O’Halloran will take a look at 100 teams in 100 days, counting down to the opening night kickoff on Aug. 29th.
Head coach: Brad Seeberg
Assistant Coaches: Don Sutherland, Ryan Passaglia, Mike Manning, Matt Furlong, Dean Schlueter, Mike Walston, Phil Raffaelli, Matt Ruhland, Trevor Fritz
Biggest storyline in 2014: Can the Trojans win it all in 2014? On paper, Cary-Grove has all the makings of being a state title contender in Class 6A, yet just getting out of the Fox Valley Conference is a serious challenge.
Name to watch: Senior OL Trevor Ruhland (6-foot-4, 290 pounds) is verbally committed to Notre Dame. Ruhland is one of four experienced offensive linemen back this fall for the Trojans.
Biggest Hole To Fill: The Trojans ran into some injury issues early in 2013 and they will need to avoid the injury bug this fall. The talent level is there, but depth is always a concern.
EDGY's Early Take: With 15 returning starters back this fall, expectations are very high for this team in 2014. Again, it takes several factors to win a state title - most importantly some luck and good health along the way to Champaign. In short, the Trojans should be a real force in 2014.
