CSNChicago.com is your top destination on the road to the 2014 high school football season. CSN preps contributor “Edgy” Tim O’Halloran will take a look at 100 teams in 100 days, counting down to the opening night kickoff on August 29.
School: Thornton Township
Head coach: Bill Mosel
Assistant coaches: Ron Anderson, Bruce Muhammad, Gus Jones, Dontrell Jackson, Tai Streets, Preston Leflore and Bill Mosel Jr
Biggest storyline in 2014: Next man up? The Wildcats graduated some keys players from last season, especially on offense.
Name to watch: Senior wide receiver Brian Davis (6-foot-5, 195 pounds) has size, reach and terrific ball skills. There's no question that Davis is a player that college teams need to see sooner rather than later.
Biggest hole to fill: The Wildcats graduated three standouts from 2013 in wide receiver Jauan Wesley (Iowa State), quarterback JoWahn Brown (Eastern Illinois) and wideout/defensive back Tifonte Hunt (Northern Illinois).
EDGY's early take: Under Mosel, the Wildcats are always in the mix. A few bounces here or there, and they would have been a state playoff team last year. The key will be getting off to a decent start. Early season non-conference games against Morgan Park and Naperville North will tell us a lot about Thornton Township.
