CSNChicago.com is your top destination on the road to the 2014 high school football season. CSN preps contributor “Edgy” Tim O’Halloran will take a look at 100 teams in 100 days, counting down to the opening night kickoff on August 29.
School: Crystal Lake Central
Head coach: Matt Fralick
Biggest storyline in 2014: Can the Tigers make a deep run? They have been rock solid in the Fox Valley (fox) Conference, and with 10 returning starters this could be another banner season for Crystal Lake Central.
Name to watch: Senior running back Ryan Williams registered 1,100 rushing yards and scored 16 touchdowns in 2013. He will be a key weapon once again for the Tigers.
Biggest hole To fill: Quarterback. Graduated signal-caller Kyle Lavand passed for nearly 2,400 yards and totaled 21 touchdowns last year, and was a huge part of the offensive production for Crystal Lake Central.
EDGY's early take: Crystal Lake Central has simply been a consistent winner and I don't see that changing in 2014. If the Tigers can settle in on a quarterback, they have a real shot at making some state playoff noise. A strong running game and defense will be relied upon early as the play-action passing game develops.
