Finally, something to do for the big kids.
This winter and spring the Chicagoland area will be loaded with various 7-on-7 league, camps and showcase events mostly designed for various skill position players. Yet what about the linemen?
Core6 Athletes out of Deerfield has led the way in putting more focus on year round training, and now the offensive and defensive linemen types now have a place and an event that showcases their skills and progression.
This past Sunday in Naperville, Core6 Athletes put on the first of three weekly competitions featuring just offensive and defensive linemen.

Mike Jones, the former Oak Lawn Richards and University of Iowa offensive linemen, is the Director of offensive linemen and explained the need for this type of league.
"It seemed that everything was geared towards the skill kids and now we can showcase the linemen with this event," Jones explained. "You have a lot of big camps coming up and linemen can get a good idea on what they need to work on before those camps. We also video tape everything and players are welcomed to use those videos to send out to colleges if they wish."
Jones also explained what's involved in each session.
"We have four different events which includes a tire pull, a 45-yard shuttle, positional drill work along with one on ones. Players are awarded points off of each event and we name an MVP after each session."
The league will last just two more weeks and information can be found at the Core 6 website www.core6athletes.com.
