2013 record: 12-2 (5-1); finished second in the North Suburban Lake conference. Lost to Mount Carmel, 30-0, in the Class 7A State finals.
Why did the Bears make the CSN Preps Power Rankings? Lake Zurich always seems to find a way to challenge for a state title. They have reached the Class 7A state semifinals for the past four seasons.
Areas of concern? New faces on both sides of the ball.

It will be a good season if: the overall inexperience wears off early.
Headliners? Senior offensive tackle Zach Wallace (6-foot-7, 250 pounds) is verbally committed to Wyoming. Wallace, a converted basketball player, has the potential to make an impact at the college level.
Biggest game? Home game against Stevenson on Oct. 2.
