#13 Lincoln-Way East
2013 record: 9-3 (5-2); finished third in the Southwest Suburban Blue in 2013. Lost to Edwardsville 21-14 in the Class 7A Quarterfinals.
Why did the Griffins make the CSN Preps Power Rankings? Lincoln-Way East has never missed the IHSA state football playoffs in school history and that shouldn't change in 2014.
Areas of concern heading into the 2014 season? The Griffins will need to reload on both sides of the line of scrimmage this fall including replacing two-time All State center Nick Allegretti, who's now at Illinois.
It will be a good season if: the Griffins can win at home. Lincoln-Way East will host Oak Park-River Forest to open the season and will also face both Bolingbrook and Homewood-Flossmoor at home.
Headliners? Senior quarterback Mike Weller (6-foot-2, 180 pounds) was a late regular season starter and never looked back after getting his shot.
Biggest game in 2014? Take your pick. You can't go wrong with either the Griffins hosting Homewood-Flossmoor (September 26th) or Bolingbrook (October 16th). I highly recommend the pizza at the concession stand.
