CSN Preps Power Rankings: No. 25 Neuqua Valley

Share

CSNChicago.com is your top destination on the road to the 2015 high school football season. CSN preps contributor “Edgy” Tim O’Halloran will take a look at 100 teams in 100 days, counting down to the opening night kickoff on Aug. 28.

No. 25 Neuqua Valley Wildcats

2014 Record: 6-4 (6-1). Placed second in the Upstate 8 Valley conference in 2014. Lost to Homewood-Flossmoor 41-20 in the opening round of the 8A state playoffs.

Why did the Wildcats make the CSN Preps Power Rankings? Neuqua Valley has proven that they reload --and not rebuild-- under head coach Bill Ellinghaus. The Wildcats have the pieces to challenge all comers in its new conference home, the DuPage Valley.

Areas of concern heading into the 2015 season? Can the Wildcats win week in and week out in the DVC? Who steps up at quarterback and on both sides of the line?

It will be a good season if: The Wildcats can settle on a quarterback, the line play develops sooner rather than later and the Wildcats headliners play like headliners.

Headliners? Senior TE Brett Borske along with junior wide receivers Isaiah Robertson and Owen Piche are D-1 level names to watch this season.

Did you know: Neuqua Valley has had only two losing seasons since 2002.

Biggest Game of 2015? Which game isn't a big game this year for the Wildcats? For me, the most intriguing game could be a Week 2 showdown at Naperville Central. This DVC matchup that should tell us a lot about where the arrow is pointed.
