2013 record: 10-2 (6-0); finished first in the Upstate Eight (Valley) Conference. Lost to Naperville Central, 47-18, in the Class 8A quarterfinals.
Why did the Wildcats make the CSN Preps Power Rankings? Neuqua Valley has been one of the most impressive programs on the rise in Chicagoland.
Areas of concern? Neuqua Valley will need to replace standout senior running back Nolan Dean who transferred to Nazareth Academy.
It will be a good season if: the Wildcats can keep climbing. Head coach Bill Ellinghaus has led Neuqua Valley to back-to-back deep playoff runs, and the next step is to advance further in the playoffs.
Headliners? Senior quarterback Broc Rutter (6-foot-1, 190 pounds) is verbally committed to Indiana State. Rutter has the potential to make several bigger college program wish they had recruited him harder.
Biggest game? The Big One. Oct. 17 against rival Waubonsie Valley at North Central College.
