1. Whitney Young (24-3)
#PrepsTalk: Fresh off a 61-46 win over Benet, where Jahlil Okafor scored 21 points and added rebounds, the Dolphins now set their sights on the IHSA playoffs. They’re the No. 2 seed in the 4A Argo sectional.

2. Morgan Park (26-3)
#PrepsTalk: The Mustangs are the No. 1 seed in the 3A St. Laurence sectional. Is it too early to say that it’s a race for second place? Harlan, Brooks and Fenger are the top challengers.

3. Simeon (24-3)
#PrepsTalk: Familiar foes? Simeon took down Marist 65-44 Saturday night at the City-Suburban Showdown. They could face each other again in Friday’s 4A St. Rita regional final.

4. Proviso East (23-3)
#PrepsTalk: East faces Tuesday’s winner of Elk Grove/Wheaton North, while regional host Proviso West will meet the winner of Fenton/Lake Park on Wednesday. It could be an all-Proviso 4A regional final Friday in Hillside.

5. Oswego (25-2)
#PrepsTalk: If you want an intriguing (potential) matchup this Friday, look no further than the 4A Batavia Regional. Miles Simelton and company could either face Bolingbrook or Lemont in the final.

6. Bloom (23-3)
#PrepsTalk: The Blazing Trojans are the #2 seed in the 4A Thornton sectional. In regional play, they’ll get the winner of Thornwood/Lincoln-Way Central on Tuesday night. Could another run to Peoria be in the works?

7. Marian Catholic (25-3)
#PrepsTalk: Say what you want about the 4A Argo sectional, the Thornton sectional is pretty brutal in its own right. Tyler Ulis and the top-seeded Spartans are in with Bloom, H-F, Joliet West and T.F. North.

8. Neuqua Valley (26-2)
#PrepsTalk: Remember the two epic showdowns between bitter rivals Neuqua and Waubonsie on the football field last fall? Now imagine that intensity in an enclosed gym. It could happen in Friday’s 4A Oswego East regional final.

9. Orr (21-3)
#PrepsTalk: The Spartans are the No. 1 seed in the 3A Nazareth sectional. But there are a lot of sneaky-tough teams that hang in the balance, particularly their (potential) opponent in Friday’s final, Nazareth or Montini.

10. Stevenson (23-4)
#PrepsTalk: Jalen Brunson and the Patriots have been close to unstoppable all year long. They are the top seed in the 4A Waukegan sectional and get the winner of No. 15 Grayslake North and No. 17 Grant on Tuesday.

11. Benet (24-5)
#PrepsTalk: The 4A Bolingbrook sectional, where the Redwings are a No. 2 seed, is stacked with the likes of Oswego, Neuqua Valley and West Aurora. Sean O’Mara and Benet will be a tough out.

12. Maine South (26-3)
#PrepsTalk: The Hawks host their own 4A regional this week, which should help. A No. 1 seed helps even more. They’ll get the winner of No. 16 Lincoln Park and No. 17 Lake View on Tuesday.

13. North Chicago (24-3)
#PrepsTalk: The Warhawks, who host their own 3A regional, may not be challenged until they get to the final of the 3A Antioch sectional. But the top-seed is in regroup mode after last week’s loss to Stevenson.

14. Homewood-Flossmoor (20-5)
#PrepsTalk: The Southwest Suburban Blue champs have won nine in a row and are led by forward Maurius Hill. They’re the No. 3 seed at the 4A Thornton sectional. The Vikings face the Sandburg/Shepard winner on Tuesday.

15. Niles North (23-3)
#PrepsTalk: Tough draw for Niles North. They’re only the No. 4 seed in the 4A Glenbrook North sectional, and they’ll have to get past Loyola (in Wilmette, no less) just to escape the regional. NN-Loyola could be an all CSN-Top 20 regional final.

16. Notre Dame (21-5)
#PrepsTalk: Same sectional as Niles North for the Dons. They will face the winner of Von Steuben/Maine East on Tuesday. Should they win that game, they’ll play either Foreman or Glenbrook South on Friday.

17. Loyola (21-5)
#PrepsTalk: As mentioned in the Niles North ranking, No. 5 seed Loyola gets a big break in hosting their own 4A regional. Friday’s game could be wildly entertaining, provided both teams don’t overlook their early opponents.

18. Hillcrest (20-6)
#PrepsTalk: The Hawks won an exciting game against Lemont Friday and they’ve now won an astonishing 25 straight conference titles.  Hillcrest is the top seed in the 3A Rich South sectional.

19. Glenbard East (19-6)
#PrepsTalk: It could be a battle of conference winners Friday night at the 4A Hoffman Estates regional. The Rams (DuPage Valley) and Riverside-Brookfield could match up with Metro Suburban champ Riverside-Brookfield.

20. West Aurora (22-6)
#PrepsTalk: Jontrell Walker and the Blackhawks could have their work cut out in 4A regional play at Wheaton Warrenville South. A potential West Aurora-Hinsdale Central matchup in Friday’s final could raise some eyebrows.

Looming and Lurking: Lemont, Larkin, New Trier, Curie, Crystal Lake Central, Zion-Benton, St. Rita, Brother Rice, Waubonsie Valley, Providence-St. Mel, Lakes, Plano, Seneca.
