There are a number of top high school football recruits to watch going into this weekend's IHSA state football finals at Huskie Stadium in DeKalb.
Class of 2014
In Class 8A, Naperville Central senior quarterback Jake Kolbe (6-foot-2, 194 pounds) gave Illinois State his verbal commitment earlier this summer. Kolbe had early offers from the Redbirds along with Central Michigan, Colgate and Toledo, but he decided to stay closer to home and pledged to the Redbirds. Kolbe has been a big part of an impressive Class of 2014 group for ISU and head coach Brock Spack.
In Class 7A, Lake Zurich senior linebacker Colton Moskal (6-foot-0, 204 pounds) gave Syracuse and head coach Scott Shaefer his verbal commitment back in June. Moskal had earlier offers from Cincinnati along with several Mid-American Conference schools including NIU.
Mount Carmel is loaded with recruits. Running back Matt Domer (6-foot-0, 188 pounds) gave Illinois his verbal commitment back in July. Domer was also considering Syracuse, Indiana and Kansas. Defensive lineman Enoch Smith Jr. (6-foot-2, 272 pounds) pledged to the Michigan State Spartans back in April at the Michigan State spring game. Smith Jr. also had multiple Big Ten level offers. Defensive tackle Steven Richardson (5-foot-11, 285 pounds) verbally committed to Minnesota back in April. Minnesota was Richardson's only BCS level offer at the time. Saftey Deontae Brown (6-foot-2, 200 pounds) verbally committed to Western Michigan. Brown has been drawing looks and interest from a handful of Big Ten schools this fall.
In Class 6A for Batavia, senior quarterback Micah Coffey just signed a letter of intent to play baseball for Minnesota. Senior linebacker Anthony Thielk (6-foot-2, 219 pounds) has offers from Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan as well as several in-state FCS level schools.
Richards also has several names to watch. Senior linebacker Romel Hill (6-foot-0, 210 pounds) has offers from Eastern Michigan, Eastern Illinois, Illinois State, Wyoming, North Dakota and North Dakota State. Senior wide receiver Tacari Carpenter (5-foot-11, 171 pounds) also has offers from Akron, EIU, North Dakota, NDSU, South Dakota and Wyoming. Also, senior defensive back Dylan Jiles (6-foot-0, 196 pounds) has an offer from Indiana State and interest from several other FCS level schools.
In Class 5A, Montini Catholic features senior defensive lineman Dylan Thompson (6-foot-5, 275 pounds) along with senior linebacker Nile Sykes (6-foot-3, 225 pounds). Thompson is verbally committed to Ohio State, while Sykes has several BCS level offers including landing his latest offer from Notre Dame a few weeks ago. Sacred Heart-Griffin has one of the state's top wide receiver recruits in Malik Turner (6-foot-3, 205 pounds). Turner gave Illinois his verbal commitment back in June.
In Class 4A, Geneseo senior offensive lineman Nick Verbeck (6-foot-3, 281 pounds) has been drawing steady looks from the likes of NIU and WIU, among others. Rochester senior defensive end Matt Swaine (6-foot-7, 218 pounds) has offers from both Illinois State and Western Illinois.

Loyola 2015 offensive lineman Jack Moroni (6-foot-3, 265 pounds)
Naperville Central 2015 linebacker Bobby McMillen (6-foot-2, 220 pounds).
Mount Carmel 2015 defensive tackle Deandre Greer (6-foot-1, 280 pounds)
Mount Carmel 2015 defensive back Marquise Peggs (5-foot-11, 170 pounds)
