Former standout Joliet Catholic running back Ty Isaac was granted a release from his scholarship from USC after requesting the school to do so.
Isaac, who as a true freshman in 2013 carried the ball 40 times for 236 yards and two touchdowns, talked briefly about why he decided to leave USC.
"It's a family decision," Isaac said. "My mom hasn't been feeling well, and I need to be closer to my family.
"I really enjoyed my time at USC, but it's a decision that I had to make."
Isaac, who was a two-time All-State running back for Joliet Catholic, was also a Rivals.com five-star recruit in the Class of 2013. Isaac had scholarship offers from every Big Ten school — including Illinois and Northwestern — and Notre Dame.
Isaac added: "I haven't begun to even look at schools yet. You can't even talk to other schools until you're officially released. I just want to get home first and then think more about schools."
