The Sandburg Eagles --the faculty, student-athletes and fan base-- have lifted each other up after a devastating loss, one that went far beyond the box scores.

Bruce Scheidegger, Sandburg High School's athletic director, was killed in a car accident outside Freeport on February 10th. Scheidegger was described as a caring, gentle and passionate leader of at the Orland Park school. Losses like this might be especially tough for players and coaches alike, especially at the apex of the winter sports calendar. And they've responded by winning.

Our Muscle Milk Team of the Week is the wrestling team at Sandburg. The Eagles locked up another 3A state championship, their second consecutive first place trophy, in Bloomington last weekend. The team boasts a pair of 52-0 wrestlers, Colin Holler (170 pounds) and Ricky Robertson (220). Head coach Eric Siebert boasts a talented team that is also paced by Bill Gore (285), John Pelligrino (145), Chris Pajak (182) and Sebastian Pique (120).

But the winning isn't just limited to the wrestling mat. Sandburg's boys basketball team may have earned one of the most shocking victories in Chicagoland prep hoops Wednesday night. The Eagles, in last place for a bulk of the year in the Southwest Suburban Blue, took down CSN Top 20-ranked Homewood-Flossmoor 71-68 in a regional semifinal game.

Also on the show:

Jovan Mooring scored 28 points to lead Hillcrest to a victory over Lemont last Friday. It propelled the Hawks to their 25th straight conference championship and it helped make Mooring our Allstate High School Athlete of the Week. Can Hillcrest put it all together for another run to Peoria?

We also checked in with Jabari Parker and other members of the Simeon at a McDonalds event in Chicago. Parker was recently selected to the 2013 McDonald's All-American Game Boys Team.

As always, we'll take a look at the top plays from last week and drive down Memory Lane in our Flashback segment.

You can catch High School Lites, presented by Discount Tire, on CSN and CSNChicago.com this Friday night just after our Blackhawks-Blue Jackets coverage and SportsNet Central. The show will re-air Saturday morning at 7:30 and 8:30.
