High School Lites Preview: Week 6

High School Lites has a busy week of hoops after the holiday season as we have matchups from all over the Chicagoland area and beyond. Public League powerhouses Simeon and Whitney Young take the floor in Memphis as part of the National Hoops Showcase while some other conference matchups from the South Suburban, Fox Valley and Southland.

Richards at T.F. South, 2:00 p.m. -- A South Suburban crossover gets a matinee showing in this one. Richards (8-5, 2-2) is coming off of a 1-3 showing at Hinsdale Central as they try to get back on track after some great wins before the holiday season. T.F. South (6-7, 3-1) went 2-2 at York, including wins over Rolling Meadows and Glenbard East. 

Rich East at No. 3 Bloom, 6:30 p.m. -- The top two teams in the Southland matchup here. Rich East (7-5, 2-0) is 7-2 after an 0-3 start as they have a seven-game winning streak against in-state opponents after taking home the consolation title at Big Dipper. Bloom (14-1, 2-0) is making a push for a state title run as they placed second to Curie at Pontiac.   

T.F. North at Eisenhower, 6:30 p.m. -- Another South Suburban crossover takes us to Blue Island. T.F. North (8-3, 3-1) won its final two games in Centralia after an 0-2 start as they try to keep the winning streak going. Eisenhower (10-5, 2-2) has won four of their last five as they placed third at the ICCP/Westmont Christmas Classic. 

Oak Forest at Shepard, 7:00 p.m. -- Our final South Suburban crossover of the show has us in Palos Heights. Oak Forest (11-4, 2-2) came up just short at Maine East as they fell to Lane in the title game to snap a six-game winning streak. Shepard (9-4, 2-2) also lost in a holiday tournament title game as they fell to Lindblom at Kankakee. 

Wheaton North at Geneva, 7:00 p.m. -- Two unbeatens in the DuKane Confernce collide for this one. Wheaton North (9-6, 4-0) went 2-2 at York as senior Deng Reng is a player to watch. Unbeaten Geneva counters with a senior backcourt of Jack McDonald and Mitch Mascari as they won the Wheeling Hardwood Classic in impressive fashion.

Brother Rice at Mount Carmel, 7:00 p.m. -- We head to the Catholic League for this matchup of South Side rivals. Brother Rice (11-5, 3-2) features one of the area's best players in senior Marquise Kennedy as the Loyola commit is an All-Area candidate. Mount Carmel (12-4, 4-1) is coming off of a solid third-place finish at Pekin in which they upset No. 2 seed Morton on the way to the semifinals.

Crystal Lake South at Crystal Lake Central, 7:00 p.m. -- Crosstown rivals in the Fox Valley take the floor in this one. Crystal Lake South (11-5, 3-2) is hoping to make a move up the conference as they lost the consolation title in a 2OT thriller to Dixon at Jacobs. Crystal Lake Central (10-4, 3-0) sits atop the conference as the only unbeaten as they're coming off a win at the Marengo Holiday Tournament.

No. 6 Whitney Young vs. Whitehaven (TN), 6:30 p.m. -- The Dolphins (12-5) head to Memphis as part of the National Hoopfest for this one as they'll face one of Tennessee's best program's in Whitehaven. Coming off of a Proviso West title game loss to Bogan, Whitney Young will be looking to get back on track with another big showcase game. 

No. 20 Simeon vs. Olive Branch (MS), 8:00 p.m. -- The Wolverines (6-7) will also be in Memphis at the National Hoopfest as they face Memphis commit D.J. Jeffries and Olive Branch. Simeon is coming off of a solid week at Pontiac as they took third place with a good win over Bloomington.
