Turnovers and incomplete passes plagued the Patriots early, as No. 2 Lake Zurich capitalized and took a commanding 17-0 lead in the first quarter. The first half would be a tale of two quarters as Stevenson blocked a punt and scored two touchdowns to pull within three points before the intermission.
Jack Joseph capped off the comeback effort, scoring on a eight-yard touchdown rush early in the third quarter and propelling the Patriots to a 21-17 lead.
Lake Zurich would cough up the football three times in the second half on their way to its first loss of the season. A roughing the punter penalty called against Lake Zurich gave new life to a Stevenson possession late in the game and helped them complete the victory.
After losing the first two contests of the season, the Stevenson Patriots won their final seven games before heading into the postseason.
