Chicagoan Jabari Parker was named the Wayman Tisdale Freshman of the Year Monday.
The former Simeon standout and current Duke star beat out players like Kentucky's Julius Randle and Kansas' Andrew Wiggins for the award, which honors the nation's top freshman.
Parker averaged 19.3 points and 8.8 rebounds on 47.8 shooting while playing 30.7 minutes a game for Duke.
Parker was also named to the freshman All-America team along with Wiggins, Randle, Kansas' Joel Embiid and Syracuse's Tyler Ennis.
The 6-foot-8 forward joins an elite group of Wayman Tisdale winners, including Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony, Jason Kidd and Chris Webber. Oklahoma State's Marcus Smart won the award last year.
