Last recruiting season Syracuse and head coach Scott Shafer and staff took advantage of his deep State of Illinois roots in adding six players in his 2014 recruiting class.
The Orangemen have again targeted Illinois and added it's first Illinois bred verbal commitment in the Class of 2015 from Plainfield North junior offensive tackle Cody Conway (6-foot-6, 280 pounds) this afternoon.
Conway first broke his decision via his Twitter account:
Will be wearing these jerseys soon enough. Verbally comitted to syracuse! pic.twitter.com/YNQuZwHQFE— Cody (@CodyConway13) May 16, 2014
Conway also talked about his decision.
"Well, my reason (committing to Syracuse) is it was just a gut feeling from the start that Syracuse was where I wanted to be. I just didn't want to miss out on a great opportunity, so I gave it some thought and committed."
Conway also had scholarship offers from Central Michigan, Connecticut, Illinois, Nevada and Rutgers.
