It's been a week to forget for members of the Curie High School basketball team.
The varsity team was stripped of its 24 wins and Chicago Public League championship last week after officials found that members of the team were academically ineligible.
And just hours after their head coach Mike Oliver and all players were deemed eligible to compete in the state tournament on Tuesday night, their season was over.
Curie dropped an 88-85 overtime stunner to DuSable High School at King College Prep in the first-round of the state tournament.
Curie star forward Cliff Alexander, who will go on to play for the University of Kansas later this year, finished with 25 points, 15 rebounds and eight blocks, but fouled out with 27 seconds left in regulation.
