With Saturday's Chicago Elite Classic at UIC and Mac Irvin Diabetes Classic at Larkin, a sizable portion of the top 25 was playing and, in some cases, playing each other.

The new No. 1 is Simeon following Whitney Young's loss at the buzzer to St. John Bosco, and on its heels are Public League powers Morgan Park and Curie, along with Stevenson and Orr.

Only one new team enters the top 25 this week as Carmel and its surprising start replaces Fenwick.

1. Simeon (1-0) (2)

Simeon is back at the top for now as the Wolverines were impressive in their Chicago Elite Classic win over Hamilton, Tenn. The Wolverines are long, athletic and play really well together.

2. Morgan Park (1-0) (3)

Morgan Park earned a tough road win at Larkin, and junior Kain Harris and underrated senior and UMKC commit Lamont Walker carried the scoring burden. If sophomore point guard Charlie Moore can stay poised, they'll stay near the top.

3. Curie (2-0) (4)

Controversy and close endings aside, the Condors are 2-0 with wins over two very talented teams. Cliff Alexander's 22-point, 20-rebound performance in the win against Bishop Gorman was one for the ages.

4. Stevenson (6-0) (5)

The Patriots continue to play at a very high level early in the season, and juniors Jalen Brunson and Connor Cashaw are turning into an elite duo.

5. Orr (1-0) (6)

The Spartans opened their season with a win over Providence St.-Mel in the Mac Irvin Diabetes Classic as senior wing Tyquone Greer started the year with 17 points.

6. Whitney Young (0-1) (1)

Lost a tough game in the opener to St. John Bosco, Calif., and the game showed some things the Dolphins will need to improve on going forward, including perimeter defense and limiting turnovers.

7. St. Rita (1-1) (8)

Senior guard Dominique Matthews has been arguably the best player in city to start the season as he continues to score at a high level. In the absence of his young brother, junior Charles, Dominique is averaging 36.5 points per game and remains uncommitted.

8. St. Joseph (5-0) (9)

The guard play for St. Joseph has been talked about plenty, but forward Nick Rakocevic is a skilled sophomore forward that could play a large part in how far the team goes.

9. Benet (5-0) (10)

Took care of Redondo Union, Calif., in the Chicago Elite Classic as they continue they undefeated start.

10. Loyola (5-0) (12)

Loyola remains unscathed on the season as they got by a feisty Hales team by two points on Friday night.

11. Marian Catholic (4-1) (7)

Respectable loss to Etiwanda in the Chicago Elite Classic. The Spartans have a loaded schedule this season.

12. North Chicago (3-1) (14)

A week off for the Warhawks leads into what should be an easy week against Antioch and Grant.

13. Bogan (5-1) (15)

Bogan played twice on Saturday — once at Larkin and once in Champaign — and won both games. The Bengals knocked off Huntley at a 1:30 p.m. tip-off then drove to Champaign for another win over Champaign Centennial.

14. Oak Park-River Forest (6-0) (16)

The Huskies went 2-0 on the week and face Hinsdale Central and Schaumburg this week.

15. St. Viator (5-1) (17)

Ore Arogundade's huge shot over Proviso East in an overtime win at Larkin was a part of a big week for the Lions, who also won at Wheaton Academy.

16. Larkin (5-1) (13)

Fell to Morgan Park in a close game, and while their backcourt has looked solid, the play of freshman Christian Negron at forward is the real intrigue. The 6-foot-6 Negron had eight points, eight rebounds and seven blocks against Morgan Park.

17. Proviso East (5-1) (11)

The Pirates fell to a really good St. Viator team at Larkin and will look to bounce back against an out-of-state Indiana opponent over the weekend.

18. Zion-Benton (5-1) (18)

The Zee-Bees earned a nice win over Lake Forest during the week, and they'll face Warren and Lake Zurich.

19. York (6-0) (19)

Pulled out a win over Hinsdale Central, and they'll face Lyons this week.

20. Bolingbrook (3-1) (21)

Bolingbrook had a solid win over Joliet Central this week to move to 3-1.

21. West Aurora (4-1) (22)

Easy 30-point win over Glenbard East last week as Wheaton-Warrenville South looms this week.

22. Hyde Park (6-0) (23)

Solid win over Hales as they face a solid test Monday in Detroit and against No. 3 Curie on Thursday.

23. Uplift (6-0) (24)

Faces Lane, Foreman and Phillips this week. If they can go to 9-0, watch out.

24. Plainfield North (6-0) (25)

Big game against No. 9 Benet looms this week for high-scoring junior forward Trevor Stumpe and Plainfield North.

25. Carmel (6-0) (NR)

Senior Jack George is a force on both ends of the floor at 6-foot-10, and the Corsairs are winning big early in the season. A big test against St. Viator looms this week.

Dropped from rankings: No. 20 Fenwick (3-2)
