Besides the strong slate of games that we had on CSN Chicago on Friday night at 11 p.m. for High School Lites, there will also be a lot of games on Saturday night that fans should check out as well.
One of those matchups features No. 1 Marian Catholic against No. 3 Stevenson in the When Sides Collide Shootout at Glenbard East High School.
The event is put on by the City/Suburban Hoops Report and this third and final game of the three-game shootout will feature a highly-anticipated point guard matchup between Marian Catholic senior Tyler Ulis and Stevenson junior Jalen Brunson. The matchup of two of the state's top teams in Class 4A tips at 7 p.m.
The event starts at 4 p.m. with Illinois commit and junior Aaron Jordan leading Plainfield East against Sandburg while Glenbard East takes on Palatine in the second game.
Stevenson's only loss on the year came against No. 4 Zion-Benton when they were without third leading scorer Matt Johnson, while Marian Catholic only lost to Etiwanda (CA.) at the Chicago Elite Classic.
The 17th Annual High School Hoops Showdown run by the Integrity Group will also be going on at Hinsdale Central High School on Saturday as a strong doubleheader occurs in that one.
In the opening contest at 6:30 p.m., No. 21 Benet and Xavier commit Sean O'Mara will face Milwaukee Hamilton and UCLA commit Kevon Looney. Looney is 6-foot-9 with sharp shoulders and a tremendous ability to score and he'll likely be a McDonald's All-American.
Benet has a tough matchup with No. 14 Saint Viator on Friday night before this one and they'll have a busy weekend ahead of them.
In the second matchup, No. 20 Fenwick will face the home Hinsdale Central Red Devils in a really good non-conference clash.
The matchup inside with Fenwick seniors Dan Dwyer and Tom Planek going against Hinsdale Central's trio of Ian Bunting, George Kiernan and Matt Rafferty will be intriguing while Scott Lindsey continues to work his way back into the lineup for Fenwick.
Lindsey has been back the last two games for the Friars and the Northwestern commit had 10 points in a loss to St. Joseph and six points in a win against Proviso East.
So if you're free on Saturday night, check out one of those two big-time events if need a high school basketball fix.
