Eloy Jimenez leaves game with injury after collision in outfield

Eloy Jimenez already has one injury playing the field, but it appears he picked up another during Tuesday’s game in Kansas City.

On the first batter of the game for pitcher Dylan Cease, Royals leadoff hitter Whit Merrifield hit a deep fly ball to left-center field. Center fielder Charlie Tilson made the catch on the play, but collided with Jimenez coming over from left field just after making the catch.

Jimenez immediately went down holding his right arm. He was checked on by White Sox staff and taken out of the game.

The White Sox have since announced that Jimenez has right elbow soreness and is undergoing further examination. After the game, Rick Renteria told reporters that Jimenez is headed back to Chicago and a stint on the IL is likely.
