The Blackhawks announced that they have recalled defenseman Gustav Forsling from the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League and placed defenseman Michal Rozsival on injured reserve, retroactive to Jan. 25.

Forsling was sent down on Jan. 6 in an effort to play on a nightly basis and log heavier minutes, something he wasn't doing with the Blackhawks on a crowded blue line. He registered six points (one goal and five assists) in 11 games since joining the IceHogs.

The 20-year-old Swedish defenseman had one goal and three assists in 32 games during his first stint this season with the Blackhawks.

Rozsival, 38, has one point in 14 games this season, having last played on Jan. 15 in a 3-2 loss to the Minnesota Wild at the United Center. It's unclear what the injury is that has forced him to be out of the lineup.

The Blackhawks open the second half of the season on a six-game road trip that begins Tuesday against the San Jose Sharks.
