It's a mantra made famous by former NFL coach Herm Edwards when addressing players' use of social media, which at times can create more trouble than it's worth. But in the interest of brand-building and fan popularity, players who engage on social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram have a big advantage over those who don't.

Unfortunately for Bears fans, players like Khalil Mack, Mitch Trubisky and even Allen Robinson aren't active enough on any of those platforms to rank among the league's most engaging.

The NFLPA recently conducted a study of its players and their use of social media via Opendorse, and there wasn't a single Bear to be found.

Here are the 10-best social media users in the NFL right now (based on overall engagements):

  1. Odell Beckham Jr., Cleveland Browns
  2. Tom Brady, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  3. JuJu Smith-Schuster, Pittsburgh Steelers
  4. Julian Edelman, New England Patriots
  5. J.J. Watt, Houston Texans
  6. Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks
  7. Patrick Mahomes II, Kansas City Chiefs
  8. Todd Gurley, Atlanta Falcons
  9. Ezekiel Elliott, Dallas Cowboys
  10. Carson Wentz, Philadelphia Eagles

As for the 10 players with the fastest growing social media presence? Here's that list:

  1. D.K. Metcalf, Seattle Seahawks
  2. George Kittle, San Francisco 49ers
  3. Raheem Mostert, San Francisco 49ers
  4. Darius Leonard, Indianapolis Colts
  5. Patrick Mahomes II, Kansas City Chiefs
  6. Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals
  7. Fred Warner, San Francisco 49ers
  8. Michael Gallup, Dallas Cowboys
  9. Deebo Samuel, San Francisco 49ers
  10. Steven Nelson, Pittsburgh Steelers

Beckham, Jr. ranks at the top when it comes to Instagram, while the Twitter crown belongs to Tom Brady (of course).
