Schutt Sports unveils visor to ‘block droplets from sweat, coughs, and sneeze'

Schutt Sports, a sports apparel company that makes – among other things – football helmets, came out with an interesting announcement today:

The 'Splash Shield' is one of the the first examples of coronavirus-inspired equipment that's already on the market. According to Schutt's site, the shield 'was developed to attach directly to the faceguard of a football helmet to block droplets from sweat, coughs, and sneezes.' It also:

- Fits all traditional football facemasks

- Is Disposable/Replaceable

- Includes reusable attachment strips

- Includes one shield and two replacements in each package

Well okay then! Apparently there's "short term" ability to avoid fogginess by dropping some dish soap on the visor, which, tbh, doesn't particularly feel like a ringing endorsement of that technology. Just Rub Some Soap On It! is a great approach to cleaning really gross old baking sheets, but that's about it. On the other hand, maybe this will force the NFL into having to put Soap Technicians on their payrolls. The marketing opportunities sell themselves.
