Sports Business Minute: Cities growing, sports journalism rebooting

Share

Did you know? Since 2000, over $3.1 trillion has been spent by America's cities on community-related infrastructure, streets and urban parks. In fact, judging by the development of Chicago alone in the last 15 years, those trillions actually make sense. A little known fact to tourists posing in front of the 'Bean' is that the landscape Millennium Park was built on was once a wasteland controlled by the Illinois Central Railroad. Pretty cool, huh?

In addition to discussing the growth of our cities, Comcast SportsNet Business Insider Rick Horrow brings up the future of "Sportsmanias," the company behind the effort to generate unique and ethical sports journalism. The company launched their inaugural City Summit Series where the conversation will center around the most pressing issues impacting the sports scene of the host city. The event kicked off in Orlando last week and will likely be in Chicago next year.
