Sports Business Minute: More cold-weather Super Bowls?

Will the Bears and Chicago ever host a Super Bowl?

It's worth asking after the Pittsburgh Steelers put together a bid to host Super Bowl LVII in 2023 last month. New York hosted Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014, while Minnesota will host the 2018 Super Bowl after its new stadium is completed.

"Cold-weather cities want the economic impact that goes along with these facilities and these special events. New York started the trend. Philadelphia, New England, Cleveland, Cincinnati, other cities, obviously Denver, Seattle, look at this as well," Sports Business Insider Rick Horrow said in the video above. "And the Bears closely monitoring the situation as well. Economic impact of Super Bowls? North of $500 million for that activity."

The Bears have proven they can put on a show for a mega-event, Horrow said, noting the 2015 NFL Draft that was hosted in the Windy City this past spring.
