You always seem to be the the voice of reason and you always seem to see things that a positive light. I terrified that this team is going to have a really rough going Jay Cutler is gonna get killed back there what do you think. Well I think. The line you saw the other night is not the one you're gonna see that opened the season and let's -- except there are still some changes they're going to come there are going to be performance Stan is it if if they're not met there will be even more changes you know they have options here. Including flipping big -- to the left to left tackle and Dumars went back to right and they're not gonna play musical chairs the way they did. Last season because she saw the disaster early in the year. But you know -- Let's not judge too much what happened based on just that first game. Because I'll be real honest with the none of the quarterbacks are playing well you know Caleb -- got the demotion yesterday -- good practice to be back with the twos today. Jay Cutler has not -- well for a lot of lot of factors going into the sacks no -- -- for a 160 yards -- give some that was by the back ups and some of it was just Marion Barber but. You know on the gratitude to. Cry Havoc and you give up on the -- because it just isn't in the final form yeah. They've -- it's -- before you ask you more about the quarterbacks I've been northwestern tinged question for you. With Corey Wootton primus and for weeks now with with a knee injury. Was there any sense of of wondering why he's on the field for a special teams play like that or is that just standard NFL -- -- You know. -- He. He plays special teams -- that's just what He does. At this point he's kind of the Izzy Idonije have a couple of years ago which is really where -- -- injured really injured himself to the coaching staff. He he's faster than He was last year. You know maybe not as -- as a guy like maybe Tim Doyle or someone like that but but he's quick and so he's on the field. As it just as a matter of course is what the number one coverage team which is a good Scifres -- roster situation so -- that nothing abnormal about that. Known Chris go to the Tribune. You know I'm you're the expert -- -- the from what I thought I was really impressed with the Melton and no major right. Talk about those two guys Willie had that -- -- -- and had their first game or is it just really tough. You know it's it's -- it's. Easy to say it's two weeks too early to tell what your Major Wright showed a lot Chris last year him in camp and -- and frankly there was some thought that might challenge for a starting job -- Manning wasn't -- -- -- peak form. Right played well in really his first long extended action -- got hurt last year in the first pre season game at San Diego -- -- in a couple players. Showed a lot and looked like a Bears safety should look. Henry Melton played up to what is the coaches were billing him as in the offseason He got bigger. It was a former running back from Texas who was we came in the league to sixty you know it's playing to ninety and is still quick you saw in the in the backfield a couple of times. In. Of a mobile court you are looking you're looking at a couple of quick tackles kind of -- think in the kind of in the mold of Tommie Harris of that remains to be seen. But no I don't think you're seeing a fluke they're both both Major Wright. And Henry -- guys who showed a lot last year I think this is the next step for them. Quote I this is a two part question the first one should be rather easy is. How big is this window for the Bears to win the suitable. That's you know the Super Bowl. -- those -- are usually two to four years I think if the Bears propped it open when they traded for Jay Cutler. Give us face it you're if you go as far as your franchise quarterback goes. If Jay Cutler turns out to be the goods now I think you're looking at a five year window another let's face it we got young offensive lineman. Which is huge advocate Chris Spencer turns out -- the senator got two young tackles some in this offense can be around for awhile. You know fight again in the cliche in free agency is -- it's two to four years I was at the Bears can be content serious contention for five years you. Think there's enough time to develop this left tackle. You don't you talk about the Mike Martz is how good Orlando Pace was and -- He anchored those offensive lines just say this win goes. Big enough to develop this left tackle. Yeah it is and I'm Chris de we say this look at over talk and Marcus -- what -- may be the right tackle ultimately. You know gave -- me -- like I had a really nice first game. But are you also say it's not just strictly developing in the developing in the martz system. What's going to happen is if things don't work out with the protection in the field line is you can't be worried about it. What they're gonna be they're gonna shorten up the the game of the way they did Lester for game seven. Get them they're they're not just gonna leave the tackles on an island and talk to someone today and authority thinking that way. If it doesn't work we have plan B we showed it worked last year so yeah I think the windows there this time to develop. -- last one. I know everyone is just going crazy because we got Roy Williams here but this is not the runway at the 2006. This is Roy Williams 2011. You know he's gonna have a huge impact can catch seventy plus volley Mike Martz is indicated. Could have kept I'd be stunned if it was a mean there's a reason why He really have won two super years. A lot of things came together and in Detroit. I think it's a little unusual to see a receiver really get I wouldn't say a second or third win here but just rediscover something. You know you don't get faster you get older. You writers -- the right Castro figured older but I don't think wide receivers get any faster figured older. What Williams looks very polished but he's again he's playing with the younger guys who were less experience and him. I don't see an eighty catch your out of this guy as good as he's looked as much as to the coaching staff and Jay Cutler liked them. It's just hard to see the the there is the Roy Williams of of that time coming back. Last one -- inning on Matt Forte I know He wants to get this contract done. I just thought they got to get this taken care of because it's not really fair to him. The putting him in this situation in the pre season and not step up and -- -- deal done. You know cap and there's two sides -- this one not to take the team's side but the Bears don't have to do anything. I wrote today he's under contract for another year 550. Grossly underpaid. They also have a franchise tag if if they would -- if they elect to do nothing Matt Forte they can hold on him for the next two years which for running back is an eternity. They've made what -- what I understand you're pretty decent offer. If they're still far apart if you know -- optimism isn't running the way it was a couple weeks ago. Yeah they should do something that you know are should they pay what they paid you DeAngelo Williams you know 88 mil a year for five years. I don't know that that that's reasonable they're not gonna pay him Chris Johnson might hear Adrian Peterson money. They should do something but forte also it'll ever be realistic about the market.
