Let me start with a serious question here about how long you have been planning on leaving the nationals when you make that decision. Well you know that that's and actually questioned Dan I really wasn't plan it was more. You know but just something that was building. And you know it's unfortunate it came to this point to him down. You know it's it's kind of a lose lose situation I think. Well certainly. You know I had a lot wish I was there managing the ballclub but at same time -- you know I don't wanna be there. Under the circumstances so you know it was a lose lose situation there was just something that was building I can't say that it was so. -- something I knew I was gonna do. You know two months earlier for a month earlier but certainly in the last couple weeks that I was there even -- we were playing good baseball it was. It was building and it just got to colorful. This is -- decision I needed to make. Sometimes you need to take that breath you need to step away. Now in the -- retrospect. You make the right decision. You know I think it was a -- decision for me I think. One when people make the major decisions in their life -- Well it's certainly everybody has lightened when you're doing something that's public hasn't been as manager in baseball twelve burrow into majors for whatever. You don't want a player or manager makes a decision that everybody's got their talks about it but the only person that you got a chance to yourself -- You know wasn't -- Spontaneous. You know knee jerk reaction it was something that I had talked about I probably ran the ramifications of it the -- made this decision and so. You know there was there was -- out over a period of weeks and and something that I decided to do so I have to say it was a right decision. -- issue an ultimatum that there. Or any other day leading up to them. Not not at all you know I was in no position to offer. And it subtle ultimatum it was so. You know like I guess the -- to have an ultimatum that I wanted to talk you know I've there was no ultimatum of pick up my optional not gonna continue to manage because that -- was definitely not gonna lead to a good place Sunday that so. I just felt that -- You know talking about my future with the ball club I felt like I was investing myself a 100% into the ball club and wanted to see what I was gonna take for me to move forward with the ball club in the future and that was only going to be found out if we talked you don't -- I think everybody in the game. Who is. A manager or ball and executive in the game. Isn't investing a 100% just that I was then and wanted to know if you are part of the future and that was those discussions are done privately they're not. They're not public people don't even know those discussions have taken place since. You know that's what else just wanted to open up. The discussion about. You know what to I need to do to move forward this ballclub to give myself a chance to be a part of the future of the ball club. He's gym regimen former nationals manager joining us Dan Patrick show what I expressed publicly just in case you didn't hear doors third hand delivered. I didn't know if you I didn't think -- put yourself in position where you could say hate you to do this or not do this I thought you sign up for the year manage the year. Make it so it's tough -- you you know that you have the negotiating power there. And that you can't quit on your team when you tell your team not to quit on you in my in my incorrect in any of that assessment from your perspective. Now I mean not so I certainly understand. Do you or anybody else taking that problem opinion but you know when you're when you're there every day in your living it. It's a little different and I thought you know I I do feel that. You know when you when you're asking players to them to give everything they have. That it is you know that's a huge commitment you're asking for them and if you yourself for the state of mind where. View it's going to be tougher for you to invest everything you have. Other than staying on is that maybe not the right thing to do because you're you're not going to be in the right frame of mind to leave the ball club here. You know you're you're doubting as to whether the organization has plans for you to continue on after the immediate future so. You know it's it's that's a no win situation you. You're you're not going to be. The projecting yourself. -- -- manner that the players are -- going to be motivated to play for you because you're you're starting to doubt your own. Status in the organization's.
