The CTL panel discusses the Blackhawks' pulling of Corey Crawford in Wednesday night's game - 3/1
Transcript
Corey sixth time that he's been yanked this year you were talking to him asked him that question. That the youngsters confidence is shattered yet ball shattered I don't know -- considerably. Yeah I mean he we're asking him did you agree with Joel Quenneville pulling you last night said it was absolutely. The right thing ideas on more than one occasion he talked about has played. Lately hasn't been acceptable I mean I looked up the numbers for star -- and and tomorrow. Goalies but at least twenty starts this year in the NHL he ranks thirty ninth in the league in save percent now again. You talked -- posted today he said he's a good goalie and we did we get gave him no help last night we and that's true to some degree but. Do you not thirty ninth best save percentage goalie of all that groups if you're not. If it's all just mistakes in front of you still got back to him in the inconsistencies. He doesn't have the answers and he talked to him today and he's still searching for the answers here in less than twenty games left the season. That's a problem but the big problem. And Quenneville walks the fine line of of not shattering his conference because they think if you think you have a legitimate shot first of winning the Stanley Cup. You probably have a better chance of Corey Crawford is your net -- over Ray Emery but. The bottom line -- seventeen to go he's got to win games so we can't really worry too much about stopping at somebody's. You know ego like his. -- -- you know I know that a lot of people would say. Who cares how it feels good it matters you don't have I think it's a dangerous thing we start talking about. His confidence and if he's lost it or at least they -- hasn't been shattered like Brian said but. At least that's been spending a little denied -- you don't want that he's the last guy on the ice that you want to have any kind of confidence problem. A week ago he just any distraction for games -- stopped -- 115. Out of -- 120 shots those last week right. And now last two games he's given up seven goals on twenty shots I mean that's that's the -- part that guy can do it. The guy can be a really good goalie or at least. More than good enough to get you in the playoffs and get you far in the playoffs but. It's just so up and down and he just doesn't mean it's just for Jonathan Toews did not practice today will not make the trip to Ottawa correct pass till afterwards if it was possible that Toews could come at some point during the trip and he said he hopes up. And I'll have to see that he's progressing I think it's just one of those things where one day Jonathan Toews and a wake up in the better. And there's just no real timeline -- and when that day is next week or June or July I'm not even I I don't know of anybody now. So we -- with concussions that you just you're not going to be able to know -- you think that some guys can get over it soon in a matter of weeks and takes months of not over a year fit at that if the report is true that shot sustained it and play five more games that's probably. Another thing that neurologists are dealing with right now they wanna make sure that you know everything checks out here because. Maybe he did go back on the ice when things were still up a little funny I can't Sam Hurd and can cost but I mean -- in Dan would know about this in the NFL I mean you. There's a lot of things you have to go through and it ended and it's not something that just necessarily goes away I mean you're dealing with -- even when you get back in the competition if you feel a certain way afterwards. You know after after work out or whatever they're not gonna try and back out there.
