Gar Forman talks about Bulls off-season moves
Transcript
Finding a replacement for Derrick Rose was definitely one of the biggest priorities for the Bulls heading into the offseason. But with free agency looming and -- likely departures of Kyle Korver Ronnie Brewer and John Lucas expect the Bulls to be busy. -- and asking Kendall gill at one on one with gar Forman to discuss markets Teague and what free agency might hold the for the bolts. We really were surprised that he he would -- to that spot and you know we we thought. First of all he fits who we all our you know he's a winner it's -- in big games major conference. Play for a national championship this past year. Then again what we thought he can give us is another guy that can break you down off the dribble. But created shots for himself creating shots for others. Has got an edge to on -- as a competitive kids so. When he was there we were we were -- -- on the board at 29 and in our minds it's a real value that. You know you're get a guy like that there's going to be -- hopefully for you know the next 4567. Years. I was an excellent -- -- things -- you know he's the split when that championship last year. What are you expectations of them they keep coming in as a group. Well you know and Tommy we just talked about a little bit. He's gonna have to earn his way in in in the first thing he's gonna have to do is get here and start to go to war in in and learn the pro game. You remember when you were rookie Kendall and and there's there's obviously an adjustment. Period that he's gonna have to go to go through but. You know if he's good enough to play and help us as a as a rookie I'm sure up the opportunity. But in in our minds in picking him we were thinking or big picture and you know with senior one fine but we certainly think he's got a high ceiling -- we ever get MBA player looking at a long -- Looking at your shooting guard position obviously rip Hamilton is back Dexter -- got decisions to make on the contracts of Kyle Korver and Ronnie Brewer how do you solve that situation before. Well I mean it's something we've got a lot of discussions about and you you really don't know what's gonna happen with the market and until the market starts on July -- so we've got a lot of plans put together but now we got to see. Who's available who fits in you know as far as what we're trying to do what I achieved and who fits in from a financial standpoint. Because with the new C -- we don't have a lot of flexibility financially but. That's what time we obviously have gotten a number of players to sign whether. We decide to bring back a couple of the guys we have options on order bring in free agents that we think can help us here. And things don't wanna mention that we will miss him -- I've been loving her time to come back for. Andre Miller has. Yes my fatigue and knife point guard physically going to be looking. And you go underneath -- veteran leadership thing here we'll probably won't be back until January. February will that be. Your primary focus from Austin. Well our focus will be you know on the perimeter we've still got to address the point guard positions. And we've got to address you know the two guard position we've got -- back but we dependent on what we do with -- Ronnie. We've got to look at it that depth there whether one or two of them come back or whether we got to go into the free agent market and try to address that. Obviously we talked about a -- we feel pretty good about our front line and in fact we had one of the deepest and best front lines and you know in the league so. The perimeter will be the focus this week as we -- on Sunday.
