The night race at Daytona the Coke 0400 no caution flag through the first eighty laps. Different story the last eighty. Flat number 92 the sparks like Kurt Busch Bobby Lamotte C among -- colliding cars this time we go into the wall in the -- second caution flag is out the three. Under forty laps to go Jimmie Johnson's car runs off the track on which Johnson Jeff Gordon Michael Waltrip Joey -- all involved in the racquet. To the final lap check out what happens Denny Hamlin Jeff Gordon. Juan Pablo Montoya along with several other cars spin out of control -- wild finish Tony Stewart. Wins his third. It's his third win of the Sprint Cup Series. And joining us talk about it now you are bodies in the studios he is every week Chicago let's be with president Scott paddock fight that was what. Racing fans love us we'll look. And and you know we said it last week inevitably we thought we were gonna have the big one. It was a really a tale of two races the first half caution free second half four major Rex. Including that one -- we've seen that more times than not that final. 212 left push and in all nearly breaking out is as they go 34 wide trying to jockey for position on that final stretch. Greg Biffle acknowledged he made a little -- is -- -- in Kansas were actually. Making good charged with one another. Relative to Tony Stewart. They got a little separated and -- that air comes in between cars on the super speedway. Changes the whole era and then make free agency and aerodynamic feel and Stewart was able to -- -- get out there. And yeah I give Tony a lot of credit he qualified second. But he was put to the back of the pack because of -- he failed a post qualifying inspection. Because of any legal air duct which NASCAR rule would give him a competitive advantage with additional downforce. So we went from 42 to two ended up -- in the race really remarkable looks like he did in homestead doing the -- how far back was he when the whole. Things happen at the end there they crash what he was running out front so aka the first three coaches coming driver in the net result in the rear view mirror absolutely lucky -- because it you know even if you are running in fourth position at the time. You've got caught up in that did it hurt your points -- as much of it as a track like batteries like that is gonna produce -- why such a clean race early on -- later -- -- guys get more desperate more competitive maybe as the race -- -- and feel things -- start it is with no cautions this firstly the -- get pretty spread out pit strategy -- to play a little bit. Guys were on different pit stop cycles. But is this cautions come and play down the stretch it punches them all back together. So in the home stretch there on that last lap you had about 35 cars right bunch up together in one small mistake and it takes out of with a good number. A couple drivers let's look at. Carl Edwards -- Jeff Gordon who may not make the chase. Me it is like crunch time they -- races to go it really is -- were eighteen in this who Daytona marked the halfway point of the season we got beat races together until the chase begins NASCAR's playoffs. And I think those are two of the interest in story lines kept Carl Edwards who finished close second to Stewart last year. Really on the outside looking in right now no wind so he's not position for one of those wild card berth either. And who'd -- thought Dale Earnhardt junior would be the most consistent driver all season long. And then as you know Jeff Gordon that's another interest in story line seventeenth in the points right now he's got to win. To get one of those wild card positions so it's basically put -- -- Moats to it that it is I think these next eight races are going to be incredibly exciting because of that. Because of guys like Stewart. Guys are guys like I Edwards guys like -- Gordon Gordon wanna get into that -- start coming up bit and then add to your place in -- struggle in a couple weeks it will weekend enjoy it and after next July 21 and 22 -- -- -- racing returns with the truck race. And then he used to be 300 on Sunday Danica Patrick first of three appearances and Travis Pastrana the action sports. Superstar looking for his next challenge is gonna try it in a NASCAR stock car so really exciting in that the Chicago about. Based and play on Broadway near million dollar quartets going to be out there doing a pre race concert in the National Anthem. And that in turn it over the -- box -- band back in the ninety's it's gonna. Two little pre race -- before the dropping -- to reflect how -- Danica doing so far. She's -- ninth in the points standings in the Nationwide Series this year is all about getting seat time in hopes of elevating heard of that. Sprint Cup next year so I think if she finishes in the top ten Paul that will be -- successful year for her -- make our picks. So we're at the New Hampshire this weekend a mile track. Known for our tight it's kind of a paper -- Format a large team straightaway it's paper but formats on the -- line. During Stewart Haas racing is pretty strong distract you and Tony Stewart some in a box you out to pull. -- start to get Iraq with the politics just like that guy I am going -- Jimmie Johnson. He has some really strong finishes at New Hampshire Jeff Gordon was my other choice he's riding in desperation mode. Bottom bottom of that it would mr. consistency in. Much like -- Jeff Gordon is desperate to get in the chase I'm desperate to pitch you and I and our little about them I have a win by -- 142. In the fact that he could have been George -- carrier Frankfort Illinois you -- this week wearing scarlet it would sweepstakes. Get two tickets beverage type golf 400 wherever you could join in on our NASCAR bat with the kids that got it back down. -- Sprint Cup ticket and it is struggling Beasley sweepstakes what what. Think if they're respectful 400 at Chicago end but you will be entered to win the grand prize of the two points while. For a couple awards ceremony at the Wynn hotel in -- them.
