What is your got there we definitely -- lockout. -- -- little bit a time I just just in the gap between these two parties right now it's just too big I think to -- we're looking at what 28 days. Between. Now and when this deal is up the currency BA. And just isn't that the gap is too big guy and in the NHL PA. Gave the league its offer earlier this week the NHL head and looked as if it was still considering it. I would say okay hated there's a chance this could be finished could be wrapped up on time. But they shot that down pretty quick so I just stay at the dish to me thinks they still have to work out. Before to put this gets settled for. Tracy for me the most galling thing of course missing Donald fear involved in these negotiations relative enough all. Fact since the eighty's for me -- I wonder. The history of the players are reaching out to bring him in I mean he was always so such a heavy in baseball for that union did great work for them you can say that he. -- -- his hand too strong in the end certainly in drugs drug testing but. They have the NHL players target was not saying they wanted to heavy guy in there and they thought they got sort of steamrolled the last time. I think that's exactly what the senses city Yunel and then they gave up so much we -- -- kind of referred to that today you know this was exposed to. -- all the problems with the players gave up last time men in this was posted may call those problems disappear and yet here we are again. Haggling over the same stuff than the players being asked to give -- more everything's so yeah I think they felt they conceded too much last time. And that's exactly whether brought him in camp with. It has idea of Olympic participation come up and all these discussions because obviously the Russians are gonna. If the -- -- Russians they can't play and Sosa those Russians are gonna defect spectrum. He rush I mean and he'll be as committed as residual an all Europeans really wanna go play as I've man does that mean discuss them all yet and. That has since and it very well could've been it hasn't come up this is far as you know topics with us because see you know -- -- the big. Money issues are looming right now but yes I agree with you I remember. A couple years ago when when those possible that they are gonna go to the Olympics. And that talked to a coaching and he said you know I went to Olympics I couldn't imagine. Not have gone to those when he was an NHL player so yeah I think a lot of the NHL players would be disappointed that -- at that can happen. Tracy just seems like the last work stoppage did so much damage -- not necessarily from the players side but the league across the board the image of the league. I wonder if you since any of owners any any maybe the stronger clubs may be a team like the Blackhawks and that is really sort of working overtime to try to get this thing settled -- kind of feel like what the heck are we doing here. Yeah I am you know play from the owner's standpoint in and then hoping they're allowed to speak Ronald -- but you look at the proposal that they put out. And and you wonder if they've Achilles is a you know are moving toward that because it was so strong as far as what they were expecting a players give up and I don't think they. Could've. Sat -- and thought oh yeah the player he's gonna roll over and take this so if they wanted to just avoid all of this I think it would certainly made it more of the deal. That the players can look and say okay Albert can work with this but. That first proposal that the NHL made it's that's up. Okay Clark sports fans are getting used to work stoppages that check out today's daily list these are the labor issues with some four big sports leagues. Over the last season here since 92 there missed eight -- stuff is expecting at all or leagues NHL. Effective three times we've canceled season 04. And all five and -- some of the other numbers there of course. The NFL lockout that we've just got through a year ago. No games this -- to get that thing going during the pre season. We are good numbers there enough I was out of the racetrack. And I ran into a guy similar -- -- -- -- her doctors thought he owns a piece of an NHL team and that's three guys at all concerned. That while Chicago makes sellout some of the other cities may go I'm done with you guys and he said that's a lot of garbage they all K all the fans came running back. The last time they'll come running back again I said that's a pretty -- argue way to look at it you don't know in this economy if that's true. Now when in hockey tickets first -- Perry right yeah I think they're the -- he is among the that this the pro sports and and they won at the core fans came running back up given that I think the core fans came running back and I don't think they gained. A new audience. Out of the -- -- he here's my thing in and this one of the things that should say is when they came out of the last lock -- you add guys like Crosby a -- in. Who we're just coming in C you had to dazzling. Tremendous players they could really capture an audience attention. You don't have that right now and -- if you have that coming up he combined that and like he said the cost of tickets and the fact that it including its ticket this. They're gonna get tired of of having to wait for their seasons to start so no I don't think they're gonna. Come running back to me also the -- middle are part. Penetration our members to back -- but a lot of penetration progress in the US market over the seven years I mean I think every as far as our every playoff game was on television this year has town and which is a remarkable thing by the United States down. And Vancouver you -- sure was a short lived booster people a lot of people do get introduced to how wonderful game of hockey can be with that and I think that. Ole -- lot of the penetration and the winter classic has come in during that period which is -- a whole new audience yeah I think. You could back slide I wouldn't be surprises the attendance dropped dramatically if -- I -- -- -- long long term. Lack of Solomon like three games. Oh absolutely I think -- and I think that's the danger is you have to realize how far you've come. And are you willing to put eight -- -- like running a race and all the sudden you're gonna put such an obstacle in front of you that you can't overcome what's the point of that when you're. Just building momentum. The way that you have been in starting to bring people back in the winter classic -- a tremendous addition. To the sport to sell gas it it just don't mess with that but unfortunately I think they're going to. Just sort of the inner workings of the labor negotiations. -- hit that battle fear factor in baseball. What always led Donald plays such a strong hand that was he had such support of the union I mean. The owners tried time and time again to break the union it was a stupid -- thing they ever did because of the union wasn't gonna break. How do you assess the support. Among the players for its union leadership. I think it's I think it's very strong play and if it goes back to what you were saying before. As far as in that last lockout the players felt they were taken so much advantage of that they've got a strong figure head and they've got their their champion their fighter whatever. Tag you wanna give him that they're firmly behind him. Selling and fear is CNET today you know it they're unified front especially with the deal that the league rolled out two in the first I mean they hit it certainly all got. Behind every behind each other when when that came out. You know I went to a new year coming -- they went back on line and watched Phil Jackson do an interview on real sports. And he said he didn't watch the NBA playoffs this year because you watch hockey every single night he said I've fallen in love with the sport. The intensity the way they play. And I sometimes wonder if Don Fehr the owners committee to commissioner. Realise that chance they're taking. By putting this thing on the shelf. It's a big one yeah I -- in and like I said it it goes back to when when football on basketball went through there all the bar really didn't go through they got their. Situation handled pretty quickly last year but popularity of both of those all these things is through the group especially NFL. The NHL in America they've gotten better but they're still. Behind the other sports when it comes popularity everything so if you're gaining any buddy. God -- hold onto them so yeah I agree there risky he is she's it's going to hurt them more than help -- the longer that the sisco looks.
