How long will the NHL lockout last?

Will the NHL lockout be resolved before the season should begin like the NFL, result in a shortened season like the NBA or be worse than either? The CTL panel ponders the thought - 9/18
The NHL lockout it's three days old and not a lot of outrage down here but you are a die hard hockey fan mr. -- Are you surprised that it's flown under the radar to the degree that it has done here. Well it's the September 18 and I don't even think cancer scheduled to open until this weekend in the first pre season game wasn't scheduled for next weekend. You know anybody gets outrageous cannot seem pre season hockey and well Culpepper they may have some other issues accept you for tiger's event and its nothing they get too upset about. I don't really think that there's going to be. Anybody who's gonna really miss it that much until we get you know October 11 and opening day comes and goes I don't I don't think -- a player's standpoint we're going to really. -- get a feel for how unified and how united they are until we get to the middle of October and they start missing paychecks because up until now. You know they've spoken very top and they're not gonna back down and you know that's all well and good but. You know they're not -- anything now they're they're not -- first paycheck -- until the at the middle of October so we'll get a better feel for where this is going. Once we start missing them. Eventually insider today he gives you can knock out an entire series well I don't play. No play Russia suggested though -- between this in the NBA locker that I think already you're seeing move a lot of players making plans. Now more so I think you saw with the NBA to go upward to earn money I think that it doesn't take long what is it. NBA players that signed overseas were locked in for their whole link to their contract. Whereas in the NHL. If that if the lockout ends now that may be different this time around because I think a lot of European teams are worried they're gonna get burned. But if the lockout ends and they just come right back in a -- NHL also the players really -- -- anything by going over there where the NBA players and we saw a couple of instances. We're guys were stuck in China for the until that. Fifth season ended before they can come back and guys seen the Hawks. Make and then not doing that I think -- for almost and his talk about going over to Sweden perhaps I think that there are other guys who were. Considering it Jonathan -- I think has not ruled it out. That usage send but -- the spine of every Blackhawk fan and and certainly every front office executive you don't want came. And ten season you don't want -- stars and sharp going to Europe and playing. Hockey you don't want them risking injury and did this isn't good what about Ellis Corey Crawford who obviously needs the work it. He's got ability you're trying to develop them to a top flight goalie what he said I'm gonna go play in Europe -- you have problems that. Well. The one thing our goalies playing in Europe. It could actually hurt our development because of the big -- the angles are different. And you start -- -- big ice and you start getting used to the different angles with with a wider ice surface and then if this does then in December January you're coming back and you're. This is gonna take you awhile to get you always tell. You're in a minute no I don't I didn't play in the NHL to stop the puck stop and apostle. That makes the -- better at stopping a puck stick him in the net the middle rush I Horton. Order to stop the puck you have to know how to play your angles and it's when -- playing at a bigger ice surface there's a difference between playing in Europe I'm bigger ice -- in your angles and how you go about. Getting yourself in position that I wanted to follow me it was more of a detriment -- gone out there and practice not just saying that when he did come back there would be a period of adjustment for him to get. Re acclimated to that smaller ice surface after playing two or three months I think Nick Price. I think the size of the Hawks did Smart thing -- in -- -- of players to Rockford you know a hotel and then they're gonna have guys -- You know would maybe be I'm on the Hawks Ben Smith and you shot guys like that. They're going to be stay in shape -- ready yet ready which is you know this is the guy who is here is what we wanted to go young core guys that we play in there and I think just to stay. Sharp but I would to have some reservations about a guy who. His stars when your core guys playing when you don't have control over what happened. There really is no reason for a Duncan Keith and Patrick Kane or Jonathan Toews and -- receiver they have to go to Europe and play to make not. I know they are making so much money that they could set up this year and next year and not really. Assuming that you know they're not out there you know I I -- yeah -- -- elements are sure they are there's no -- -- them do it. The other guys your fourth liners your third writers are guys there are French NHL contract especially if they are European many have context there. Both of the guys that you are probably gonna see or hear guys like Ovechkin and Malkin. Who would be crying for the Russian they get and yeah. Teams over there would wanna get them for -- you know to boost their their stature -- -- they got there and go back I would be it's very surprised Jonathan Taylor weren't. Your comments on Twitter use to hash -- CTL.
