Transcript
Dan Haren has an option must be exercised by end of business tonight at 11 o'clock. Now he is reportedly going to be traded he is. Thrown the most pitches of any major leaguer over the last five years other than CC sabathia he's one of only three pitchers. Over the last eight years to make thirty starts here or every six year the others being mark -- and Bronson Arroyo. This year his lowest innings total 176. And he dealt with a back issue is velocity was down a bit he believes that he will come to camp healthy and ready to go. No more time left on the deal after this option the Cubs and Red Sox considered to be the front runners to land him would you do that. Sure how closely the same answers it's not my money I don't care. Yeah I mean he's actually a quality pitcher from the past you mentioned all the innings I don't know that Wear and -- is gonna start hurting him he was a 500 pitcher. For a team that was pretty much 500 themselves involving thirteen this year and I think -- is he another rich hard C guy who's gonna start breaking down a lot or. He gonna be take a look at his numbers. Forget those numbers are absolutely ridiculous. You know who did this past season might have been an aberration. Opposed to other years previous to that at all for the Cubs it's a one year rental they basically have said that and they may -- and at the deadline. Which is possible and get something for. Softened from their standpoint and they got money I I shouldn't say this but I think they have money to burn so. Yeah that's a good deal the Cubs can make it if if they don't have to give up what what Kansas City had to give up you know. The other day in that trade Ervin Santana gets a no brainer I would do it in -- second from the Cubs they get a quality pitcher. What's gonna what the Angels and any move Santana now they're gonna not -- -- -- money thing because they've laid out so much money for putter -- that it hasn't spent big money to keep that Greinke. Yeah and I mean I didn't date. Really underperformed last year so it's you wonder whether or not all of a sudden -- skinny little cost conscious on Anaheim had its kind of an interesting move. -- right here's the question came up and our production meeting today Dan Haren comes in fans will be OK pretty good they got it established pitcher. They're probably acquiring -- with the intent of rehabilitating him after an OK year and then July 31 on. Hello Atlanta would you be as did Dan Haren yankees you want Dan Haren and getting more prospects back. As a cub fan I don't have a problem with -- -- and no level of expectation on 2013 her what do you think other fans are gonna say -- Think the fans realize that this Cubs team is not gonna do much for. You know 34 seasons they they realize -- a plane here if they could figure out after this year than there I don't know when you know. What it is a one year rental and here you've you've you've developed an -- here that you can move at the deadline. I think this is what the Cubs -- -- the reality to make moves like this. Plus you get up but possibly good. Quality starting pitchers will be assaulting a lot when -- go out there but I think that everyone seems to know Cubs fans even the casual cub fans realize that. This is the -- billing plan and it's gonna take awhile to get too excited. -- if you're a fan would you rather see a guy who set a track record like this. As opposed to some of those guys who thankfully have already forgotten their names who pitched -- at the end of August just in Toronto. Break out in -- when I hear them. So yeah I mean if you're a Cubs -- so it was thinking a quality product if I gotta pay the prices to go out to the ballpark at least let me see a major leaguers.
